📖 Desperate prayers in dry seasons

Imagine Elijah—a man with the exact same fears, frailties, and breaking points as us—crying out in raw desperation and asking the heavens to hold back the rain for three and a half agonizing years (James 5:17). He wasn't an untouchable superhero; he was a tired, overwhelmed human being pouring his broken heart into the dust because he couldn't bear the pain around him.  Yet, when that dry, exhausting season finally ended, he folded himself back down to the earth and prayed again, and God opened the skies to bring life back to the barren ground (James 5:18). Prayer isn't about having it all together or possessing pristine faith; it is about bringing your trembling, tear-stained, utterly shattered self to a God who listens, understands, and breathes green life back into your deepest deserts.
